Dr Mohamed Sakel Appointed Chair of New Assistive Technology Special Interest Group

Kent Brain Injury Forum (KBIF) is pleased to announce that Dr Mohamed Sakel (MRCP, UK), Chair of KBIF and Medical Director of BIRU Frenchay, Active Neuro, has been appointed Chair of the newly established Assistive Technology Special Interest Group (SIG) following this year’s British Society of Physical & Rehabilitation Medicine (BSPRM) Annual Scientific Conference.

Dr Gabriel Gaciu and Professor Karen Saunders will also be supporting Dr Sakel in developing and promoting this vision, contributing their expertise and helping to foster collaboration and innovation within this important area of rehabilitation.

The new SIG aims to promote and further develop the use of emerging technologies in physical rehabilitation, including innovations such as robotic-assisted physiotherapy, with the potential to support improved outcomes and greater independence for people living with neurological and physical disabilities.

At KBIF, we are particularly proud to see Dr Sakel taking on this role and helping to bring together clinicians, researchers and other professionals with a shared interest in advancing rehabilitation through technology.

We congratulate Dr Sakel on his appointment and look forward to following the development of the Assistive Technology SIG and its contribution to the future of rehabilitation.
