
Professor Rafey Faruqui
Professor Rafey Faruqui is the Editor of the Oxford Textbook of Neuropsychiatry and a former Chair of Faculty of Neuropsychiatry at the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych).
He has served as a member of the RCPsych Council (2012-2016 & 2021-2025) and as a member of the RCPsych Board of Trustees (2021-2025). He is appointed as an Honorary Professor at the University of Kent and as a Consultant Neuropsychiatrist at Kent and Medway Mental Health Trust. He has previously taught `Professionalism, Law and Ethics` at Kent and Medway Medical School and worked as a Clinical Research Fellow at Imperial College London.
He has previously served as a member of the Mental Health Specialized Clinical Reference Group of NHS England and as a Specialist Adviser to the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
His academic and research interests include, health policy, service structure research, workforce development, rehabilitation of people with brain injury, lifestyle medicine and forensic aspects of neuropsychiatric practice. He is the convenor of the `Brain Health Research Group in Kent` and works closely with primary care, psychology, neurophysiology, neurology, and researchers working in areas of neuroplasticity, exercise science and endurance research.
